Today I went for a story telling session. Yes, you heard me right.
I went for a story telling session, a professional storyteller from Korea
This story struck me
Let me share it with you
Its about a young lady who was living very happily with her husband and kids, when one day he was conscripted to the army. When he returned he was a changed man – very angry, fierce and snapping at everybody. Soon the whole atmosphere changed and everyone was irritable and snapping at each other. The wife couldn’t take this anymore. So she decided to go and meet the village priest who lived on top of a mountain. She panted her way up and meets him
He tells her that yes he can certainly help her to change the husband. But before that he needed a vital ingredient for the herbal brew, she was delighted that help was near
The priest told her that she would have to get a tiger’s whisker!!!!!!

A tiger’s whisker he assured her calmly
She went in search of the tiger
The first day she took meat loafs in a basket and was so frightened that she threw the basket and ran for her life
The second time she went the tiger seemed to be waiting for her and so this time she placed the basket in from of the tiger
A few days later she spoke to the tiger gently
Soon she was singing lullabies, as the tiger placed his huge head on her lap
Till she asked him if she could pluck whisker from him
The tiger just places his head on her lap. She plucks it and thanks the tiger and runs gleefully to the priest. The priest examines it and throws it into the fire. She’s aghast all her trouble gone in a second
My medicine!!!! she cries
The priest replies if you could show your love to a tiger --------------
So this was the medicine
So let me see in my own life I find it easier to show my love to faraway tiger
What about the ones at home
I get bugged
The missing link
I need to see a larger purpose in what I do with my home tigers. I do not have a goal with them; I kind of take them for granted hence my tendency to react than respond

What do you mean by Empowerment ?
I have often heard this high sounding word bandied about like crazy . its a buzz word that's in common parlance with NGO's Women's Activists , The Big Fight etc .
To me I'm now figuring out what can it really mean ---not so much in a semantic sense , but more from a humdrum daily day to day life .
Anyway the Randon House Dictionary states that empower '1 means to give power or authority to 2 to enable or permit '
What does Empowerment entitle?
Can it be transferred? transmitted? When does one really say the person is empowered ?
Have you met anyone who you can point your fingers and say he is an empowered person . Which reminds me-----
Are men empowered ?Do they also require empowerment ?What goes into the process of empoerment ?
Do the adivasis need empowerment? The West?
Don't get me wrong I'm thinking aloud .
For me the bug bear is Who are you or I to give our muddy presciptive thoughts and say with finality yes -'you , you and you need empowering . so come with me and I will show you the way .'
How do you know what my thoughts are? what my needs are ? what my reality is?
why should your size fit me ?
Because you articulate well, package well , people buy you more are you empowered ?
My second zone of discomfort with this theory comes from what if the empoweree( forgive the new coinage ) in actuality ends up switching or exchanging or even giving in , to one form of empowerer to another .
In other words I merely have been empowered from X to another, and that is U .
I like this not .
ok let me toss this question in another way
What does being non-empowered mean ?
To me it means not having the freedom of choice for one, not having the ability to take an informed decision , based on ones own reality . Not having the wherewithal to sustain ecologically , economically , emotionally , and spiritually .
If you agree these are the fundamental criteria for empowerment how many of us and who can pole vault ?

AFFIRMATIONS
Hello
To me there cannot be a better way to start my blog called vedvyasinner space than with an affirmation
this i share with all my readers , so that the magic fall on you as well
I have unlimited potential.
i'm the Infinity of Life where I am . I rejoice in the knowledge that I am One with the Power that created me . This Power loves all, its creations , including me. Iam a beloved child of this Universe and have been given everything. I am the highest form of life on this planet and have been equipped with all that I need for every experience I shall have. My mind is always connected to the One Infinite Mind, therefore all knowledge and wisdom are available to me. I rejoice in my unlimitedness and know that before me lies the totality of possibilities in every area . I trust in the One Power and I know taht all is well with the world.
There are days when my world just whirs through blissfully and other days when even limping seems tame and lame . On such days I fall back to be plugged into this Unverse to regain my strength and vitality .
Im sure you do too , my need to share something into this world wide web for someone who would benefit out of this ,
This is a ripple today

the circling water
will one day lap your feet
